Surat, India is the second largest city of Gujarat and 7th largest city of India. Surat is not only fastest growing cities of India but also of the world. And this has been proved by UN report. The city has several sobriquets like diamond city, Silk City and the city of flyovers.

1.      Surat City:  Surat city is mainly known for its Diamond and textile business. Recently the area of city has been increased on official level.  The major reason of fast growing area of the city is, increasing population. The population f the city is growing very fast because peoples from different parts of the country are coming for business purpose and chose   to stay there and operate their business.  Overall look of the city is new and if you enter from Athwa lined of the city to Piplod you can se swanky business complexes and buildings which will bear to the fact that the city is prosperous.

2.      Surat People and culture : Culture of Surat is unique from rest of India. People of Surat believe in earn and live the life in full joy. While nowhere else in India Kite festival celebrate, Surat celebrate its own festival Kite festival or Utrrayan.  As far as food of Surat is concerned, it is called  “Surat nu jamman ane Kashi na maran” . Means food of Surat and death in Kashi is always prefrble. Undhyu is special  bhajiya of Surat. If you chance upon in the city in  Garba time, you can see the glazing city with men and women playing Garba.

3.      Surat  Transports and convenience :  Main means of transport of Surat city is Auto Rickshaw.  You can see every where in the city Auto Rickshaw. Though recently city bus was launched and was thought that city bus will throw the auto rickshaw out of business but  it was wrong. Main reason of preferring Auto rickshaw to business is that no one wants to wait for bus. Also fare of rickshaw in Surat is less as compared to other cities of India. Surat also has its own Airport which it got last year after much wait. Though currently most of the flights are to and from Major cities but it is hoped that very soon the city will get International airport.

4.      Surat Education:  Though the city Surat is mainly business hub  but the city has also several  schools and colleges where quality education is given. Still, Gujarati is the prime language of schools but most of the parents are now getting their children admitted in English schools. Veer Narmad South Gujarat University is one of the best university of Gujarat which is in Surat. Here students of Surat are different than other parts of India in the sense that 95% of school students do  jobs and also studies.  Most of the students here prefer Account related education.

5.      Surat Business : As I have mentioned above . Surat is also called business hub of India. Surat is known on international level for two reasons. First Diamond and second is textile.  Diamond is surat  is famous all over the world. And why not?  Surat does not produce  even an iota of Diamond still  the city polishes  8 out of 10 diamonds.  Because of global economic crisis the Diamond business of Surat was badly affected. Hundreds of workers of diamonds got jobless after Deevali festival   in 2008.  Another major business of surat is  Textile. Textile industry of Surat supplies most of the textile needs to rest of India. While  economic recession hit the diamond city very badly, textile industry of Surat emerged as stronger than ever before stand  proved that  real business of Surat Textile.

6.      Surat Visiting places : Surat has several places to visit.

a.     Old fort : First forte of Surat was established by British here in Surat. That  forte is still there and can be viewed hat.

b.     Parsi Library : One of the oldest library of Surat

c.     Dummas : Dumas is most favorite place for Surati  to pass their time  far from commotion of city. Dumas are about 10 km away from main city. Arab Sea is touches Dumas. That is why people come here to have a nice breeze of  sea.

d.     Ubhrat :  About 35 km away from city, this is also one of the best visiting places of Surat.
